Gladys Schatz, age 89, of Berlin Heights, died January 1, 2012 at her home. She was born on September 16, 1922 in Cleveland and has lived in Berlin Heights since 1946.
She was a graduate of the Lutheran Nursing School in Cleveland and worked as a nurse for the former Norwalk Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital in Sandusky, Dr. Seiler and Lavender in Sandusky and as a school nurse for Huron Public Schools. She was a member of the Berlin Heights Fire Debs, the Berlin Heights American Legion Auxiliary, Delta Kappa Gamma, and had served as curator of the Berlin Heights Historical Society. She loved collecting buttons. Gladys served as a Foster Mom to many children for Erie County Social Services.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years Irvin, her daughter Christine (Steve) Mossholder, of Denver, CO, two sons, Edward (Judy) Noonan, of Framingham, MA, Roger Phillips, of Berlin Heights, five grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, nieces Holly Schedley, Barbara Namett, and Martha Bartlett, nephews, Andy Kellar, William, Paul and Brad Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Miles Phillips, her parents Julius and Alma (Diffenbacher) Landberg, and sister Esther Schedley.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 4, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 at the Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights, where services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am. Pastor Dick Kretchmar will be officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
