James M. Fisher, age 61, of Wakeman, died Monday morning at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky after a short battle with cancer. He was born on March 25, 1949 in Norwalk and has lived in the Wakeman area his whole life. He was a 1967 graduate of Western Reserve High School. He was a boilermaker for 37 years, working out of Union Local 744. He was a member of the Gibson Masonic Lodge #301 in Wakeman, the Wakeman Eagles Redcap Aerie #4354, and the Wakeman Congregational Church. He loved farming and gardening.
He is survived by his daughter Judy Fisher, a son Joseph F. Fisher, a sister JoAnne (Robert) Jackson, his aunt Gloria Ferres, his companion Judy Yakunovich, all of Wakeman, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph W. Fisher, his mother Nellie (Polasek) Fisher-Adelman, and a brother Robert F. Fisher.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until the time of services at 6:30 pm. Services will be conducted by the Boilermakers Union Local 744, the Gibson Masonic Lodge and Pastor Matt Reed of the Wakeman Congregational Church.
