Ruth I. Lockwood, age 89, of Lorain, formerly of Florence Twp., went home on December 1, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain. She was born on September 21, 1923 in Florence Twp. She was a 1943 graduate of Birmingham High School. She loved to crochet, making lap throws for the ladies ministry at Cornerstone Community Church in Amherst. Ruth also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and bowling. Ruth loved her two pet birds Missy and Pepper.
She is survived by her two children Sandra Snell, of Lorain, and Kenneth (Linda) Croll, of Louisville, KY, two brothers Jerry (Faris) Brewster, of Amherst, and Donald Brewster, of Ohio, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Lockwood, her parents Leroy and Amelia (Didelius) Brewster and her step-mother Ivalynn (Ford) who raised her following the death of Amelia. She was also preceded in death by three brothers Maynard, Orrin, and Phillip Brewster.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 5, from 2:00 pm until the time of services at 3:00 pm at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Pastor Dave McNeely of Cornerstone Community Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Wakeman Cemetery.
